Mark Lockett "Swings and Roundabouts" Release
Powerhouse drummer or tasteful timekeeper, you decide. Top New Zealand drummer Mark Lockett is set to release his seventh album, ‘Swings and Roundabouts’.
During lockdown Lockett penned nine original compositions inspired by his love of the past, jazz giant Ornette Coleman and drawing on the modern sound of his contemporaries. Recorded recently in New York, a chordless quartet also featuring top NY heavyweights David Binney, Duane Eubanks and Matt Penman. Masterful improvisations in a cutting-edge setting.
For the release on 01 February, 2023 and to celebrate, Mark is embarking on a nine-concert nationwide tour. Lockett has assembled a smok’n quartet for this outing which features saxophonist Roger Manins, trumpeter James Guilford, bassist Daniel Yeabsley and Lion-heart Lockett on drums.
So, “Lockett in” for any of these shows, they promise it will be a night to remember!
