Julie Mason's Gap Year
Renowned NZ jazz pianist/vocalist JULIE MASON returns to CJC after a two-year break with her exciting new project gap year. Inspired by her year (2017) in Europe with husband Phil Broadhurst, this is her first-ever all originals concert!
After breaking her shoulder in February this year, Julie turned her considerable skills (including a BMus in composition) to songwriting, and the 7th November will be the culmination of her creative efforts.
Joined by a new band of some of New Zealand’s finest musicians (and UoA tutors), and two of Julie’s BFF’s on BVs, this promises to be an exciting and at times, humorous picture of Julie and Phil’s Paris-based gap year.
Plans are afoot to record this in 2019- with the addition of the fabulous Dixon Nacey on guitar. Something to watch out for.
