Oscar Lavën Quartet
Dynamic saxophonist & multi-instrumentalist Oscar Lavën joins forces with heavyweight musicians Jonathan Crayford, Mostyn Cole and Thomas Friggens, building musical bridges between Wellington and Auckland for a special concert to launch CJC’s new Winter series at Pah Homestead, with The Arts House Trust.
This brand-new ensemble will extrapolate on a selection of original music from Lavën's album 'Questions in Red', recently released on Thick Records to positive international reviews, as well as some music written especially for the group.
Lavën has played with many notable artists such as John Beasley's MONKestra, Steve Gadd, James Carter, Dave Weckl, Peter Erskine, Clay Jenkins and more. His style draws on his eclectic musical background, constructing a unique accent built from a melange of early swing music, New Orleans traditional, classical music, blues, 50s Rock and Roll, and a healthy obsession with mid century saxophonists like John Coltrane, Dexter Gordon and Ornette Coleman.
Don't miss this unique meeting of minds for one night only.
