Lauren Ellis Quartet
After a long stint away from home, Lauren Ellis is excited to be in Aotearoa and to be performing the final night of the Lauren Ellis Quartet tour at Auckland’s Creative Jazz Club.
This music is an accumulation of compositions and arrangements Lauren has worked on over the last few years, drawing from new creative influences and experiences while living and studying in the US.
This performance will not only explore original material by Lauren but also music by members of her LA-based quartet. Featuring some of Los Angeles’ most in-demand musicians, who are all band leaders and composers in their own right, this is surely a night not to be missed!
Lauren Ellis is a drummer, composer, and educator from Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington), Aotearoa (New Zealand).
She is currently based in Los Angeles, where she graduated with a Master's degree at University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music in 2021. There she studied under Peter Erskine as well as studying with Russ Ferrante, Bob Mintzer, Aaron Serfaty, and Will Kennedy.
Now, she is an active and busy member of the Los Angeles music community, performing regularly with groups such as the Paul Nelson Big Band, Michael Orenstein Trio, Logan Kane Band, and Anja Nissen. Including teaching, she is also spending her time in recording studios around Los Angeles as a session musician as well as being a sub for Peter Erskine.
